Mar Azul Tequila
Mar Azul makes premium tequila — but customers couldn't tell where to buy it. We rebuilt the brand and the site, then engineered a custom store locator that plots all 94 Texas retail accounts on an interactive map. Community engagement doubled in 6 months.
Results.

Geocoded + live on a custom Mapbox locator

Online + community engagement in 6 mo

To add a new retail account — no developer
The problem
Mar Azul's biggest growth blocker wasn't awareness — it was access. Buyers wanted the tequila but couldn't find which store carried it. The site leaned on a fragile Google My Maps embed that loaded slowly, broke often, and looked nothing like the brand.
Our approach
Brand voice + positioning workshops
Custom store locator built on Mapbox GL JS — replacing the fragile Google My Maps embed
All 94 retail accounts geocoded, verified, and plotted across Texas with brand-styled map pins
Instant city / ZIP search with distance sorting so customers find the nearest bottle fast
CMS-managed store database — the distribution team adds a new account in ~30 seconds, no code
On-page SEO for the San Antonio + Texas tequila market
The outcome
Online + community engagement doubled in six months. The 'Find It' locator turned 'where can I buy this?' into a sale — and the distribution team now adds new retail accounts themselves in about 30 seconds.
On the ground
The map was the unlock. Mar Azul had distribution across Texas but no way to point a customer to the nearest bottle. We engineered a custom store locator on Mapbox GL JS — every one of the 94 retail accounts geocoded and verified, brand-styled gold pins on a dark interactive map, instant city/ZIP search with distance sorting, and a CMS-managed backend so their team can drop in a new account in about 30 seconds without touching code. It replaced a slow, ugly Google My Maps embed and turned the 'Find It' page into a real sales tool.
